About US

(一) UAbout IRIA

Strategically headquartered in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), IRIA radiates its influence across Mainland China.
We have established a network of robust cooperative bases and projects at the municipal level of some cities in China. Our mission is to actively support national policies on coping with population ageing, fostering global collaboration and innovation in gerontology to enhance the well-being of the elderly population. Committed to becoming a world-class ageing think tank, IRIA focuses its operations on three key pillars:

1. Research Commercialisation: An International Offshore Hub for Academic Innovation The core logic of this sector is to leverage IRIA’s status as an international platform to solve the “export challenge” faced by mainland university research teams—where high-potential technology lacks a pathway to global markets. The Secretariat establishes deep collaborative relationships with mainland universities to screen frontier ageing-assistant technologies with commercial potential, such as Virtual Reality (VR) systems for elderly care, standardised Reminiscence Therapy protocols, and digital memoir production technologies. IRIA does not engage in direct R&D; rather, acting as a strategic broker and transformation consultant, we accept commissions from university research teams to provide bespoke solutions for international technology transfer. Furthermore, we collaborate with partner universities to publish timely industry development reports, thereby elevating both academic value and industrial influence.

2. Academic Communication & Conference Collaboration IRIA maintains a deep strategic partnership with the “Ageing and Wellbeing Initiative” (AAWB, ageingandwellbeing.org), a premier international academic platform. Acting as the synergistic entity commissioned by the AAWB, IRIA manages academic communication, the dissemination of frontier research, and conference coordination.

● Academic Communication: The professional editorial board of the AAWB Initiative is responsible for the construction of Open Access (OA) journals, including manuscript handling, peer review, and ensuring compliance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards. The IRIA executive team manages the operational side, including the collection of Article Processing Charges (APCs), covering journal operational costs, distributing editorial honorariums and author incentives, as well as conducting offline promotion and dissemination of research outputs.

● Academic Conferences: We co-organise academic conferences with universities in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao. Acting as the commissioned operational and supporting unit, IRIA manages the planning, publicity, and execution of these events (including inviting international experts) to enhance academic impact. We also drive conference attendance by organising special issues of journals dedicated to conference papers.

3. Research Collaboration, Training & Visiting Fellowships Leveraging our physical office resources in Hong Kong and the city’s convenient visa policies, IRIA conducts systematic commissioned training programmes primarily targeting talents from Mainland China and developing countries. These programmes may be co-organised with universities in the Mainland, Hong Kong, or Macao depending on cohort size. We actively welcome Visiting Fellows. Scholars visiting for more than six months will be awarded the title of “Guest Senior Researcher” or “Guest Associate Researcher” and receive a certificate of completion. Scholars visiting for over one year with outstanding achievements may be reviewed for induction into the Academia Committee. As the Institute’s brand matures, we will launch the selection process for “Fellows” and “Honorary Fellows,” focusing on senior figures from the industry and academia, to whom formal certificates will be awarded.
